Persefoni covers corporate carbon accounting, disclosure and decarbonisation, with PCAF-aligned financed emissions for financial institutions. A corporate group building an ASRS inventory has a different data job from a bank measuring portfolio emissions. We build a competing tool, so read our view with that bias in mind.
Where Persefoni fits
Persefoni covers enterprise carbon measurement, regulatory disclosure and decarbonisation for corporate and financial-services customers. Its clearest specialist capability is financed emissions: a bank, insurer or asset manager reporting the emissions of a loan book or portfolio on a PCAF-aligned basis.
Separate corporate and financed emissions
Australian ASRS reporting groups may be building their first inventory or replacing an existing consultant-led or software process. Their work is a consolidated corporate inventory rather than portfolio financed emissions. Compare the platform's implementation, data requirements and ongoing administration with that reporting job.
The alternatives, by fit
Which alternative is right depends on which job you're actually doing. In no particular order within each group:
| If you are | Alternatives that fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A financial institution reporting financed emissions, or an enterprise with a broad reporting programme | Watershed, IBM Envizi (and Persefoni itself) | Financed-emissions capability or broader multi-framework workflows |
| Corporate group preparing a consolidated Australian ASRS inventory | CO2 Lab, Sumday, Avarni | Australian reporting workflows without the portfolio-accounting layer |
If you are preparing a corporate ASRS inventory rather than calculating portfolio financed emissions, PCAF capability is less relevant to the decision. Compare source-data handling, implementation effort and Australian reporting support. CO2 Lab combines a carbon accounting platform with an AI Sustainability Analyst. The analyst handles collection, mapping and calculations across Xero, NetSuite and source documents. The platform keeps the ledger, evidence and reporting history for your team to review.
“Persefoni covers financed emissions for banks and asset managers. A corporate ASRS inventory is a different reporting job, even when the group has many entities or overseas operations.”
How to test a shortlist
Ask each vendor to show the corporate-inventory workflow, rather than relying on a financed-emissions demonstration. Use one of your supplier invoices and note the mapping or preparation required. Check the factor applied and the evidence retained with the calculation. For an Australian group, also verify ASRS, AASB S2 and NGER support. Our software selection checklist has the full set of questions.

Use your corporate inventory data. The analyst completes the processing and the platform returns the ledger, evidence and calculation working for review.
